The $2.5 million state-of-the-art upgrade to Rydalmere Park is almost complete with the final stages of the playing surface getting its final touches as well as the fencing installed before the official handover takes place next week.
Jointly funded by the NSW’s Government’s Great Sydney Sports Facility Fund and the City of Parramatta Council as well as guidance from Football NSW, Rydalmere Lions’ spokesmen Elias El Khoury was eagerly anticipating the finishing touches in what will be one of the finest football facilities within the Sydney Metropolitan area.
“We at the club have been looking forward to this day for a while now.
“We are delighted to see that there has been upgrades via the installation of a state-of-the-art synthetic warm-up and playing surface as well as the fencing and lightning.
“We expect the field to be ready by the end of this week (6th of June).”
The temporary halt to football due to the COVID-19 pandemic allowed the club to continue on with its facility upgrade ensuring the ground was up to scratch prior to the football season recommencing with the Youth competitions kicking off as of the 1st of July. “Correct, the temporary suspension allowed the club to assist with the delivery of the new facility without requiring the club to play any further home games away from Rydalmere Park,” said El Khoury.
It will be a major boost for the club that continues to grow year after year in both its grassroots and NPL competitions with its ever increasing teams and players.
“Right now we have 331 association players including 270 males and 61 females and 194 NPL players all of which play in our 44 teams spanning from our MiniRoos right up to our All-Age and NPL Seniors who will benefit from this upgrade – this upgrade won’t just benefit us but the sport of football that will be gaining yet another quality facility.”
Its not just the winter football season participants that will benefit from this but their 5-aside tournaments during spring and summer will also utilise the new artificial surfaces set to be laid out very soon.
